KUTA, channel 8.1, is a local LP ("Low Power") TV station that has been broadcasting America One programming since the switch to digital.
- 8.1 is listed on my DTVpal as "KUAT" and it's showing the same KUTA (America One) programming as before. "KUAT?? I think they may be suffering dyslexia?
- 8.2 is Telemundo, I believe they have had an ongoing affiliation with them. I see their van at their office, and it has the Telemundo logo on it. It's going to be a big deal here, there's large Mexican population and the only other Spanish language OTA is V-me.
- 8.3 is listed as CACHVLY, I assume it means "Cache Valley". I certainly hope it will have something besides the 24/7 local infomercials thats currently on "The Valley Channel", ch. 26. Currently, 8.3 is just silent looping weather of Cache Valley. Although right now, it's showing a Windows XP desktop with a "Spy Defender" window open. (EXCITEMENT!)
I contacted KUTA for comment, and I received this reply on 2/23/2011:
Yes Thank You for your interest. We have just launched 8.2 Telemundo for our Latino population. Presently this is just our NBC Network feed, with national programming and advertising. We plan to add local advertising in Spanish and eventually local news and shows. Our 8.3 is presently a silent looping weather of just cache valley. We plan to have music underneath and other local programming added as we develop this channel.

Thanks For being part of the success of KUTA-TV8 in Logan.
Cache Valley's source for local News, Sports and Weather.
Broadcasting on COMCAST 118 , USU Cable 61 , D-TV 8.1, 8.2, 8.3
Ultimately, this addition finally brings a major Spanish language network to Cache Valley since the demise of KUTF "TeleFutura" on channel 12 in 2009. The only other Spanish - language channel available free with an antenna is V-me, a PBS channel carried on KUED's 7.3 sub channel. Finally, local Latinos will have a reason to give up Dish and Comcast, and stop paying for TV. Hispanic viewers are the largest OTA TV viewing demographic in the USA.
