CW30 and TCN arrive in Cache Valley

CW30.1 and TCN 30.2
A few months back, I posted that CW30 was available in Cache county - and Franklin county, also - as channel 4.30. Unfortunately, 4.30 is an SD subchannel of channel 4, and NOT in wide screen. This makes watching Saturday Night Live on CW30 rather annoying, especially during Weekend Update, since the right and left side of the screen are cut off. (Click "Read More" below to see photo) For those of you that are thinking, "Wait, isn't SNL on NBC?", why yes it is! But here in Utah, our local NBC affiliate, channel 5 KSL, is owned by the LDS church. And the LDS church has made the decision for all Utah residents that SNL is inappropriate - because, you know, you can't make that decision for yourself, as your TV set is not equipped with a channel selector or "off" button. (Yes, that's sarcasm!)

Weekend Update Sucks in 4:3
Through some sort of arrangement, CW 30 carries SNL in Utah. Cache county has finally fired up the translator for CW30, so now CW is full HD and 16:9. Channel 30.1 is CW30, and 30.2 is TCN, "The Country Network", in SD. If you have a teenage daughter in the house, your TV will now be filled with vampire dramas ("The Vampire Diaries") and other assorted teenage girl angst programming. And there's a lot of syndicated re-runs you, the adult of the household, may enjoy, such as "That 70's Show". CW30.1 also has full PSIP info (OTA program guide), and is also listed on TVGOS for those of you with TVGOS - equipped TV sets or converter boxes (This includes a few select SONY TV sets and DTVpal / CM7000 converter boxes and DVR's.) You can also find show listings on CW30, and also on TitanTV.

TCN, channel 30.2, "The Country Network", has finally made its way to Cache Valley with the addition of the new translator. TCN is to country music what "The Cool TV" is to pop/rock music: All music, all the time. I think TCN will prove to be very popular in Cache Valley. And, NO, it's not available on Comcast, Aggie-TV, Dish, or DirecTV. you can only get it for free with an antenna!
